Current position: Professor for Cell Biology, Head of the Institute of Cell Biology and Biophysics, Leibniz University Hannover

Research interests: My lab is interested in the interactions of stem cells with materials in their environment, with a focus on hematopoietic stem cells. We develop biomaterials to study the influence of material properties on stem cells. This knowledge is used to ‘program’ cell behavior via tailor-made biomaterials and to engineer artificial stem cell niches that are applied in fundamental research and for different applications including the development of test systems for pharmacy or regenerative medicine.
